This page provides links to organizations that provide free cybersecurity training. Many of these links are embedded in various presentations or on other tabs on this website, but they are all located here for your convenience.
Project Spectrum is an initiative supported by the Department of Defense Small Business Programs. The website contains training videos that can be used to train your employees, and also contains valuable information about CMMC and DFARS. You will need to create a free account.
NC Department of Information Technology. Provides cybersecurity resources including teleworking tips, a portal to report security breaches, training,
NC State University . The website provides some excellent free training and guidance.
Wizer Training. This is an example of the kind of free cybersecurity training that is available. Wizer is upgradable for a fee for those who are interested. If you’re interested in upgrading, please identify yourself as a North Carolina company. (Note: the NCMBC is not endorsing Wizer, just providing it as an example of good, free on-line employee training.)
Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency . Provides excellent training and cybersecurity information. You can also sign up for cybersecurity alerts (helps with compliance to the Situational Awareness domain in CMMC).
Federal Virtual Training Environment . Provides free online cybersecurity training to federal, state, local, tribal, and territorial government employees, federal contractors and US military veterans. The training is geared toward IT/cyber professionals.

How to best utilize CyberNC.us: The CyberNC.us website was created to provide North Carolina companies with one location to find all the information they need to develop a cybersecurity compliance program that is compliant with Department of Defense regulations.
The most effective way to utilize the website is to follow the steps below:
- Understand the regulations. Click on the Cybersecurity Regulations tab and review the information about each of the regulations.
- Understand the data. Click on the FCI/CUI tab for detailed information about Federal Contract Information and Controlled Unclassified Information, then review the Cybersecurity Overview presentation.
- The information on the Where to Start tab will help businesses determine which regulation with which they must comply, as well as the level of compliance that is required.
- The DFARS tab contains information about compliance with DFARS 252.204-7012 and the new DFARS Interim Rule.
- The CMMC tab contains information about CMMC 2.0 and includes FAQs and resources.
- The Training tab provides information about resources businesses can use to train their employees.
- The Partners tab contains links to the websites of the I3C partner agencies.
